HORSE INSPIRED LEADERSHIP

For companies that understand the value of authentic leadership.

Leaders don’t fail because they haven’t learnt enough theory. Application of the theory is where they fall down because they don’t get the opportunity to develop and practice the behaviours that will make them more capable and effective. Studying what leaders ‘should’ do rarely creates competent individuals. Practicing what works, does.

That is why we bring leadership training to life!

Success Stories

If you are reading this you are already considering the smartest move you will make this year. June challenged me on some of my ways of thinking. She got me to delve deeper into what wasn’t working for me and why. I left with clear action steps, some of which I could work on right away and see results, others that are taking more time. I am forever grateful.

June Burgess is a class act! She has proved herself in business, leadership and team-building in her own companies for many years and is now transferring her expertise to benefit others. I am amazed at how her horses demonstrate the qualities we are trying to emulate in business and life. June has a knack for inspiring others so if you want to set yourself apart as a visionary leader then I highly recommend her horse-inspired programs.

I have really benefited from working with June and the team. We worked together during a time of change for me professionally and the programme helped me to form better connection with my employees.

Setting is beautiful and automatically separates you from the grind of daily routine.

I enjoyed the laid back style, free flowing conversion, this helped me to connect the models/theories to my own practice and experience. I felt I could push myself safely & comfortably but not beyond my limits.

I found the experience very reflective and affecting. The setting was perfect for the level of disconnection needed, without feeling too remote. The horses were fascinating and very lovely, but being in such close proximity definitely pushed my comfort zone, which tied in well with the theory - it was a good risk-reward exercise.

I found the training to be a very tangible demonstration of the importance of non-verbal communication. It is interesting to get immediate feedback based on the horse’s response to how you have communicated with them. You know that it is an honest, non-judgemental and natural response because the horse can’t lie. From that perspective it very quickly brings you to an awareness of your own behaviour/communication style. It showed me that I could do with being a bit more directive.

Team days - boring, contrived and not very worthwhile in my experience!  But with June this couldn’t be more different!  Fun, hands-on, interactive, reflective and a personalised approach means that each individual member of the team develops a deep level of self-awareness, builds confidence and develops a sense of pride and achievement through the activities June plans.  Working with the horses adds a new dynamic that is totally different and unique to anything else in Northern Ireland! So much was not only achieved on a personal level but as a team too.  At the end of the day, everyone had a greater understanding of how each other worked and we were able to recognise the benefits this would bring to the workplace.  Such a gorgeous setting made the team day seem more like a much needed retreat than work!

I can honestly say it was one of the best days I have had in a long time and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to come to your workshop and to work with all of your amazing horses.  I really do feel like I have gained so much from the day.  I feel like I have finally got my confidence back again and that self-believe that I had also lost along the way.   I feel proud and quite surprised myself to have achieved so much in one day, especially with the 3 horses!

What helped significantly was the credibility of June as a business leader with relevant and interesting experiences, as well as the option to work with a selection of horses, all with different personalities, this combined with  the option of using horses to facilitate team and individual learning, accelerates team connectivity, trust and understanding, and has resulted in an increased desire to learn and do more as a team.  Each team member has a personal commitment they are going to work on, and we are now going to consider how to leverage the 3 positions as we move forward through a period of unprecedented  change within the organisation. I enjoyed working with June, and think her openness to feedback, ability to go with the flow and work in the moment led to the day being a huge success and thank her for her contribution and look forward to working with her again.

Our Approach

Developing leadership and improving communication to make a difference in all aspects of life.

Horses don’t care what position you hold, how important you are – they react to the current situation and the energy, intention and body language you present.  Unlike colleagues the horse lets you know exactly what he thinks and illustrates how by slightly altering our approach, we can change from ineffectual behaviour to effective leadership.
